Eden at ESL Fringe Festival in Rochester
Eden, Juhartánc’s communal dance production, will be presented at The Rose Room on September 14 & 20, as part of the ESL Rochester Fringe Festival.
Juhartánc Danceworks, established in December 2023 in Brockport, is a novel dance venture in the Greater Rochester Area. After opening our inaugural 2025 season in New York City the week prior, the company will return to our home and share our work, characterized by communal dance presentation, affordable performances, and culturally-inspired subject material.
Our performances will be preceded by beginner-friendly workshops that allow our audiences to learn choreography and join us on stage for this touching story. Workshops will begin at 10am, also at The Rose Room (295 Gregory St, Rochester, NY 14620 | Google | Apple). Ticket holding attendees can take our workshop on a first come first serve basis, please read more under Participate.
Eden is the first dance adaptation of Edvard Munch’s 1908 illustrated story Alfa og Omega/Alpha and Omega, wherein the famed painter reimagines the connection between the first two humans on Earth. Munch’s plot weaves together themes of self-realization, love, jealousy, and violence—now interpreted through the embodied work of Juhartánc’s dancers.
Our work is enabled by the generosity of our Founding Donors, Thomas C. and Judy Diederich, whose named scholarship created the starting funds for Juhartánc. As a non-profit entity, we continue to welcome tax-deductible donations with gratitude.
We extend a warm invitation to all in the WNY area to witness our work and to share the stage with us—we look forward to seeing you!
