Juhartánc to open inaugural season in NYC
Juhartánc Danceworks, the Greater Rochester Area’s newest dance venture, will be starting its inaugural season in New York City, at Gibney: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center in September 2025.
The company has been opening its wings since our December 2023 founding, and looks forward to a tenure of professional practice characterized by communal dance presentation, affordable performances, and culturally-inspired subject matter. Juhartánc presents its first full-length work, Eden, with beginner-friendly workshops that allow our audiences to learn choreography and join us on stage for this touching story.
We are excited to hold the premiere of Eden at the Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center on Broadway, hosted by Gibney Dance. For a matinée performance and its preceding workshop, we extend an invitation to all in the NYC metropolis to witness our work and to share the stage with us.
Eden is the first dance adaptation of Edvard Munch’s 1908 illustrated story Alfa og Omega/Alpha and Omega, wherein the famed painter reimagines the connection between the first two humans on Earth. Munch’s plot weaves together themes of self-realization, love, jealousy, and violence—now interpreted through the embodied work of Juhartánc’s dancers.
Our work is enabled by the generosity of our Founding Donors, Thomas C. and Judy Diederich, whose named scholarship created the starting funds for Juhartánc. As a non-profit entity, we continue to welcome tax-deductible donations with gratitude.
The Juhartánc team looks forward to welcoming you on Broadway, with subsequent performance dates to be announced.
